Dollyhouse Beauty Editorial: A Vibrant Fusion of Glam and Diversity

Project Concept: For this captivating editorial set, I had the opportunity to collaborate with the talented makeup and hairstylist Rachel Davis of The Dollyhouse Beauty, known for her "all-dolled-up" aesthetic rich in girly elements like glitter, ribbons, lace, and an abundance of pink. Joining us was the skilled stylist Elva Mae, who played a pivotal role in bringing the creative brief to life. Our vision was to blend the iconic Barbie imagery with a beautifully diverse cast, including models from Colombia, Vietnam, and Korea, creating a unique and inclusive interpretation of classic femininity.

Set Design and Wardrobe: The set was a kaleidoscope of airy pinks, vibrant yellows, and graphic baby blues, providing a perfect backdrop for the diverse array of outfits. We showcased a variety of ensembles, from hot pink lingerie and a wine-colored mesh short dress to a floor-length yellow lace skirt and eye-catching disco ball platform heels. Each piece was carefully selected to echo the playful yet chic spirit of The Dollyhouse Beauty.

Project Insight: Working on this editorial was a delightful experience, combining the fun, girly iconography of Barbie with a fresh and diverse perspective. Our talented team brought an incredible energy and creativity to the shoot, ensuring each model was transformed yet maintained their unique essence. The final images are a testament to the power of collaborative creativity – they're colorfully playful, stylish, and speak volumes about the celebration of diversity in beauty. The shoot was a beautiful reminder of how traditional concepts can be reimagined to be more inclusive and representative of today's varied beauty standards.
